Capitalists own the means of communication now, far more than organization. They poison open communication.

Any serious talk of workers’ rights gets vilified, dismissed, and then meme’d if necessary.

Collective bargaining through unions is our only hope to stop the greed of the 1% from destroying everything.

Collective bargaining through unions is our only hope to stop the greed of the 1% from destroying everything.

It’s a fantastic start (mostly for building solidarity among the working class as well as obviously providing working conditions), but on its own, it will absolutely not stop, or even put a dent in, the systems that they uphold and maintain.

Those at the top of the pyramid can at this point afford to provide everyone with UBI, food, and shelter, sustainably, and still be 1000 times richer than anyone else. But the suffering is the point - having homeless people in the streets is deliberate, having starving populations is deliberate, having the population divided and violently oppressing others in it (via racism, sexism, ableism, queerphobia, Islamophobia, antisemitism, and so on and so on) is deliberate, keeping us undereducated and distracted by a constant flow of propaganda and “circuses” is deliberate.

Unions are great, but they are still just working within the rules of capitalism, and to destroy it, we must work outside of those rules (like creating communal alternatives to capitalist institutions where possible, and then working to destroy said capitalist institutions).
