I am doing a very modified curly girl method, I’m not sure if I can still call it CGM at this point lol. I stay away from harsh shampoos and clarify regularly with Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate. I use products without silicones but it isn’t a big deal to me if a product I want has silicone e.g. a heat protectant. I blow dry my hair with a diffuser on low heat, always using a heat protectant. I tend to stay away from products, like hairsprays, that have drying alcohols in them but I’m learning they may not be all that bad. I use wide tooth combs and a tangle teezer.

I don’t use CGM, it’s too time consuming and can get expensive. I wash every three days with silicone free shampoo and conditioner. I use a wide tooth comb or sometimes I just finger comb when my hair is chin length. Once my hair gets past my shoulders I switch to washing every four days and I have a paddle brush to use before washing (to get all the lose hair out before hand). I like to use a curling cream to style and refresh by re-wetting between washes. If the frizz gets nuts on humid days I just pull my hair back and forget about it.

I used to air dry for like decades and man it would take too long to dry. CGM calls blow dryers blow fryers but I think they can be helpful with proper use. I also finger detangle when my hair is wet with lots of conditioner in it. I can wash once a week with a mid-week refresh but since I’ve been adding hair growth oils to my scalp every day I wash twice a week. The oils are probably doing nothing but I figure it can’t hurt to try. My hair is down to my tailbone so I try to be very gentle with it, treat it like lace. I’ve also tried co-washing and it was just not good enough for me, kinda weighs everything down.
