With voting underway, at least nine Republicans had cast ballots against his bid, likely leaving him short of the 217 votes he would need to win the job. More rounds of voting are expected if he does not prevail on the first vote.
If he prevails, the Ohio lawmaker who has spent years fighting with leaders of his own party could end up in a position that puts him second in line for the presidency.
Republicans who control the chamber nominated Jordan as a replacement for Kevin McCarthy was ousted as speaker by a small group of his fellow Republicans on Oct. 3.
“He is a patriot, an America First warrior who wins the toughest of fights,” Republican Representative Elise Stefanik said as she nominated Jordan for speaker on the House floor.
Wow what a shock that a man who covered up the rape of kids at his school didn’t get elected to the third most important position in American politics.
Sadly that wouldn’t be the worst Republican speaker we’ve had.
Hastert was a child rapist, not just an enabler.

You’re kidding, right? He already participated in a fascist coup attempt. The Elise Stefanik quote at the top of this thread is praising how much of a NAZI he is (in case you didn’t know, “America First” has been a slogan used by American fascists since WWII).

That’s fair, although I do think it’s worth keeping up with the Republican NAZI count just to gauge how fast we’re speedrunning the Weimar Republic.
I assure you, as depressing as it is, that fact is probably irrelevant to this decision.
