Proton, Tutanota. If you want something like a VPN the only thing that’s free and private that comes close is tor browser. But it doesn’t let you choose where you want to search from since it’s not really a VPN.
When talking privacy the easiest solution I would recommend is an ad blocker, particularly uBlock Origin. A DNS service as well, such as NextDNS or AdGuardDNS. A reputable privacy-respecting search engine is also very good
