Not really into Motorhead music, but damn that dude has the best fans. He must really have been a special guy, because everywhere he’s mentioned it’s a genuinely cool thing he did, or an awesome I-wish-I’d-been-there story, or someone just eulogizing the shit out of him because Lemmy treated everyone the same whether it was a stranger in a bar or some hugely famous musician.

You just don’t get that kind of off the cuff, no-PR, everywhere-you-go universal praise unless you deserve it. Especially after you die, because people give even less of a fuck then.

By stark contrast, I just watched an interview with Yngwie Malmsteen on Youtube, and it was a great interview – but scroll down and half the comments were about donuts, lol. (Many years ago, the late Dimebag Darrell of Pantera trolled Yngwie on tour with a bag of donuts as Yngwie was going up to his room with a couple young ladies, and finally had him screaming “I DON’T LIKE FOOOKING DONUTS!”)

But you just don’t see that shit about Lemmy. Like, ever. He just wasn’t a prick, so you don’t hear about that. You hear about him sharing a bottle in a bar or encouraging some young metal loving kid to screw the haters, do what you want – but always in a completely honest, unvarnished way.

Who else gets talked about to this positive degree after their passing by just ordinary folks they met, like Lemmy does? So hats off to a guy who must have had the biggest heart and lived the richest life ever, so much so that people are STILL talking about it and not even getting paid to do it. And I mean that sincerely.
