I came across this TikTok recently, after checking it and its comment (& other videos, tweets…etc of that nature), I’m wondering why the left love to idealize an ideology that directly contradicts everything they’ve spent decades fighting for? Why despite the religion’s consequence in Iran and Afghanistan, they’re determined to rebrand it as a cute, harmless lil Abrahamic organized religion?
That, grouped with the scary amount of immigrant UK Muslims, do you think Islam will take hold of the west next?

Why do people continue to insist on conflating peoples actions with the group they claim to belong to?
It’s fine to call out shitty people for being shitty and doing shitty things.
But there is a word for when you conflate the shitty actions of a sitty person with the group of people they claim to identify with: it’s called bigotry.
I dont give a shit if (group a) is shitty and and says they identify as (thing), those people specifically are shitty, sure.
Bit if you use that to try and claim (thing) is shitty (it’s not a person, so it’s illogical) or try and claim that (group b) is shitty too when they haven’t done anything wrong and all they have in common with (group a) is they both identify as/with (thing), then you are a bigot
Emphasis on the “haven’t done anything wrong” part.
If you try and go “yeah but a part of thing encourages (bad thing)” that doesn’t necessarily imply people in (group B) agree with that.
It is absolutely possible for someone to believe/follow parts of a thing and disagree with or re-interpret other parts.
Yes, there are Christians who don’t believe being gay is a sin/wrong/bad. They still identify as Christian, they just have a different interpretation of the meaning of parts of the Bible.
Yes, there are Muslims that respect and support woman’s rights, because they have differing interpretations of passages in the Quran.
As soon as you take all the people of an extremely huge and diverse group and treat them as if they are the same, you are a bigot, full stop.
That is a very Western point of view. Sure in a non Muslim country Muslims have the freedom to practice their religion within the boundaries of the law. Western laws really blunt a lot of the more horrid parts of Islam.
But in countries where Islam is the law things are different. People are taught differently there. Islam at that point isn’t just a religion. It’s the judicial system. Hell, it’s the very fabric of their society and culture.
I live in a city with a world famous hospital and medical school. An ex-Muslim friend of mine used to get me to go to brown people parties with her. Mainly rich kids going to college here.
We used to talk about cultural differences, and their favorite things since moving to the USA. This one dude was talking about how eating anything from under the ground is haram. He said that until he moved here he’d never eaten a potato, but his favorite was onions. I then listened to 4 grown men describe how their fathers would physically beat them if they found out they ate onions.
My point is that here in the western world we treat religion like a suggestion at best and a fucking joke at worst. But in other parts of the world and especially Islamic parts of the world. It is your life. It is what you do and how you act, and you don’t want to find out what happens if you don’t follow suit.
Here Christian’s and Muslims say LGBTQ are bad. People are like the local clergy are up to their shenanigans again. Muslim countries say LGBTQ bad and hire state sanctioned hunters to track these people down and torture or kill them.
But yeah outside of Islamic countries. Muslims for the most part are pretty cool people.
Just to sum all this up. Obviously, there are always compassionate people in every circumstance. So, not all Muslims are bad people. But most Muslims in Islamic countries aren’t great.
I mean if your daughter came to you and said “daddy/mommy, I met the greatest man. He’s a rich Muslim man. He’s going to pay to fly me to (you know what? you pick an Islamic country) and marry me. I’ll never have to work again.” Would you be happy for her?
Thats the bigoted statement right there.
You are making a sweeping claim and you have literally no actual way you could ever prove that, and you just dropped that in there amidst all the personal story.
Sorry mate but no, you cant just say shit like that and hope it flies under the radar. Thats 100% a bigoted statement, you have no proof, no foundation, no way you could even hope to actually prove that, because no one can ever hope to prove that.
You’ve made a sweeping generalization with zero fuckin basis about a massive, extremely diverse, amount of people.
You’ve foundationed this on unnecessary premises, If you think you have some kind of “gotcha” here, you’re very wrong.
If anyone I know of any gender told me some adult person of any gender from anywhere in the world was going to pay to fly my child to their country they live in and marry that person and they’ll never have to work again, I’d instantly say “that sounds like a scam or human trafficking”
Doesnt matter if its a muslim dude offering to my daughter, an irish woman to my son, an african man to my best friend, or some chinese woman to my grandpa.
In all of those cases, completely irrespective of anyones gender, country, or religion, the principle of getting whisked off to the other side of the world to a total stranger sounds like a huge red flag, full stop lol.
Try again lol
I don’t know what you’re talking about under the radar. I said what I said. I have lived enough and traveled enough to form an opinion, and just to clarify. In Islamic countries. It’s not the people’s fault. They just don’t know anything different than what they’ve been taught, and unlike in the west most don’t have a large enough sample size of diversity to form their own opinions.
People are people, they are just doing what they’ve been taught. Through a system that fully revolves around Islam. This isn’t a race thing. There are Muslims of all colors.
This is purely a problem of having a society that is also a religion. It breeds an abnormally high concentration of extremists. It also creates an environment where people who don’t necessarily want to follow along in the bad stuff still do because the nail that sticks out gets the hammer.
But even if you choose to overlook all of that. The human rights abuses can’t be denied. Women are viewed as less than, and abused. Why is that? Because of Islamic law. LGBTQ people are tortured and killed. All because this religion is their entire life. Look up countries where homosexuality is punishable by death. Almost all are Muslim countries.
Iran, with its riots are a great example of young people trying to force change, but if you notice even they don’t want to be an Islamic country if they win. Sure, most of them would still be Muslims, but they realize that most of their problems are because Islam is involved in everything.
So, you can call me a bigot all day. I probably am to certain extent against all religion. But it doesn’t make me wrong. Sure, it makes me an ass hole. But I can be an ass hole and right.
You leave open ended statements unclarified with context. When you say this:
It doesnt specify by whom and you leave it open ended, hanging there, for the other person to fill in what you mean. And contextually the person hazards a guess that you mean “by Muslims” based on the statements before and after.
And thats when you step into bigotry. You leave that air of “Well I didnt say Muslisms there” but we all know what you mean.
Grow some balls and fully clarify your statements.
Say the quiet part out loud, so we all can hear what you really mean.
So, since you want to ghost me now. I was just looking for the answer to 1 question. How do you reconcile standing up for a religion, a culture, a type of government, (Islam) that is so openly anti-LGBTQ with being a leftist?
I’m not saying anything of the individuals that practice it. This is just about the religion itself. No one else is here. It’s just you and I. Please explain it to me. Because as of yet no one has been able to.
Your statement is built on top of the concept that it is even possible to stand up for a religion in the first place.
Which you cant, its not a person, it’s a religion.
Thats why you are struggling to get answers, you’re asking an illogical question, you may as well ask me about how can I stand up for a banana.
That is the most ridiculous thing I’ve heard all day. People defend / stand up for all sorts of things religions, ideas, ideals.
See that’s the thing. For all your taunts, and question avoidance. You lack substance in your argument. What you said is just blatantly wrong. So, I finally get you to stop deflecting and you say something that is factually wrong and easy to show that it’s wrong.
stand up for verb To speak or act in support or defense of (a person, a cause, a belief, or the like).
Maybe next time instead of deflecting and insulting people to avoid answering questions that make you uncomfortable. Just tell someone that you don’t want to engage.
Anyway man I hope you have a good week.
I dont want to engage with a bigot who tries to pull “gotchas” by building questions on top of nonsensical statements.
Go away.
Hey buddy. It’s ok. I said in the first paragraph who I was talking about. The fact that I said I can be a bigot and right means that I’m not trying to not say the “quiet part”. If you want to be purposefully obtuse be my guest. You’ve been dodging me at every turn. Assaulting my character. But not debating me on the facts. Because I’m right, and that’s ok.
I mean for that matter. That whole thing was about your first point of contention with me. “Muslims from Islamic countries”. But, like I said I see that you lack the knowledge to discuss anything of substance. So, I hope you have a great weekend.
