I stopped going to Walmart years ago. Had to go with a friend because she needed to return something. Walked around and all sorts of things were locked up. Not just liquor and electronics. But shoes, jeans, baby powder.

There are signs all over the entrance that demands you show your receipt.

I’m surprised there aren’t any metal detectors or I have to take off my shoes/run my bag through a scanner before entering.

Probably cheaper to just force people to change into hospital gowns before entering.

They can’t stop you at the door even if you DONT have a receipt. They’re too cheap to keep actual law enforcement on site and most states they can’t even legally put a foot in front of your cart. The way around this is a membership like Costco or Sam’s which have a contract//agreement as part of said membership. It’s insane how much stuff they lock up and claim is exterior shrink (customer theft); meanwhile all of retail reports it is smaller (less money lost) than interior shrink (employee theft, expired or missing items, etc. Having proper wages, security personnel, or enough staff to actually open the cabinets before people break into them would be much more effective.
