So people don’t count if they’re in a gang or do drugs? Mass shooting is the correct term if the shooter is “actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in a populated area. Implicit in this definition is the shooter’s use of a firearm.”
You are technically right according to definitions used for statistics purposes, but I agree with OP that “mass shooting” evokes a Lewiston or Uvalde random-victim image to me, and I’d like to see them differentiated
I still don’t see why gangs should get a different definition. They’re still people. The fact that some think they should have a unique definition is evidence that y’all see them as something else before first seeing them as people.
Anything to avoid having to address gun violence in this country.
Because you don’t go around saying we should ban alcohol again because we have an endemic issue with the amount of people being killed by drunk drivers.
This number is basically the same amount of homicides via firearms we have in the USA every year.
