Judaism is not always about “just don’t drink too much”, heh. When celebrating Purim they’re supposed to drink until they cannot tell the difference between “cursed be Haman” and “blessed be Mordecai”.

This is one of the cases where OP shows they don’t really know what they’re talking about. Drinking, singing and eating are like 75% of the holidays. Though, if we’re supposed to take “Don’t drink to much” as “Don’t make me drive you to the hospital”, then maybe it works.

Heck, Pesach has a 4 drink minimum! Every Friday we start Shabbos by drinking one glass of wine. There’s Kiddush clubs in NYC where (mostly hassidim) gather to do Kiddush… then do it again and maybe again. It’s wise stuff to celebrate the work week being over with a glass of wine.

Also, Purim rules. You get dressed up in costumes, eat cookies and get wicked drunk. Fun time.
