Legal professors say if SaskEnergy doesn’t remit the carbon tax on natural gas starting Jan. 1, it could face big consequences. Premier Scott Moe said the exemption is unfair.

    Timeline of events in Alberta:

    • The Alberta provincial NDP bring in a provincial carbon tax, exempting them from the federal carbon tax.
    • The Conservatives win the next election.
    • The Conservative government scraps the provincial carbon tax, forcing Alberta back onto the federal tax.
    • The federal government starts fucking with the carbon tax (who could have seen this coming?).
    • Alberta’s Conservative government teams up with Sask to bitch about how unfair the federal carbon tax is.

Completely unexpected turn of events, folks.

And Alberta will vote Conservative 99% of the time, unaware that they’ve done more harm than good.

Because they are the party of oil and gas. And because the party of oil and gas has spent the last few decades tying every aspect of Albertan quality of life to O&G profits. The great circle of sludge.

Remember how Lougheed won the province from the NDP originally.

          It wasn’t through dinosaur juice.

For non Albertans would you mind telling us how? They are pretty much the only province that seems to consistently vote against their own interests for decades
