Hello to the 2 users reading this! I’ve noticed some people using the bot already!

I now have it running permanently on DigitalOcean getting posts from r/worldnews. The username is @botlt_test, if you see it say hi!.

What’s changed?

  • The bot now uses the link-preview-js library to get more information about the link it’s posting, meaning if it’s able to find a description for the link, it will post it as description/content of the post.
  • I’ve organized the code so it’s easier to modify it if you want to.

What now?

Well that was a very short “What’s changed?” section, and that leads me to this one.
I’m thinking of adding support for other platforms, or maybe just RSS feeds in general, but I would like to know if you (2 users) have any suggestions, any new features you want to see, etc. I will also add a docker file so it’s easier to setup.

I don’t know what else to say but yeah, I thought I needed to say a couple of things :)
Thank you to the people using the bot and I hope is useful to you!

Multi username support would be huge for our purposes.

Also, if I delete a post that has been posted by the bot, it will just repost. Is there a way to fix this? Maybe looking at the mod log?

This has been some amazing work btw, thanks so much.

It shouldn’t do that, make sure you have the last changes, the bot saves to a database every post that is successfully posted.

Edit: I’ll take a look at the multiple username support
