Oda is building up to something here. I’m anticipating and dreading it, and have some thoughts on how this could end.

I’m thinking maybe blackmail? Ginny is captured by CP0, Kuma gets an audience with them including Saturn and is told he needs to surrender to the WG as the last Buccaneer and now a Revolutionary. He is forced to become king of Sorbet and rule them like Becori did where they have to give all their money as tribute maybe. And he is forced to participate in Vegapunk’s experiments and have his humanity taken away. All for Ginny and the Revs. Or at least Ginny and his future daughter Bonney.

That would make him a reverse Oden which could be interesting. And that would explain why Bonney sees Kuma as a nice person and why the Revs are so intent on rescuing him.

Another interesting fact is that Dragon was a former Marine. I wasn’t aware of that theory until recently, but it is now confirmed. That being said, the TCB translation choice of “I spent some time with the Navy” is more ambiguous than OP Scans’ “I once served in the Navy”.

And finally: we get three chapters in a row. It feels so refreshing after at least a month or two of only getting two chapters back to back.

I liked that theory, but i think the one captured Ginny could be Aokiji? And then it lead to Kuma become the 7 warlord.

We’ll see, but Aokiji doesn’t feel right. I guess it could be one more thing that led to him becoming disillusioned and leaving the government, but it still doesn’t feel in his temperament. Akainu or Kizaru would make more sense if it is an Admiral.

Yeah, blackmail makes a lot of sense. It would explain why he was called a tyrant despite being a good person at heart. He’d be ruling the kingdom with an iron fist if that meant keeping Ginny alive. Perhaps at the end he actually wanted to lose his humanity and free will, maybe to forget all the suffering he went through, maybe as a form of self-punishment for the suffering he caused to others as a king. The fact that he had a daughter and that she got to know him as he was before becoming an emotionless robot only makes the whole thing more tragic.
