Sometimes my cat tries to eat things because we have scolded her for trying. Obviously if we don’t want her to eat it, then it must be super delicious. Some cats are just kinda weird.

We only bring cat-safe plants inside around the kitties. On occasion we’ll get a bouquet with nonconfirmed content but luckily they aren’t interested. They love cat grass, though, but one of them will only eat it if you present her one blade at a time, and you must hold it for her lol.

That’s a good point, it does depend on the cat, and responsible owners know what’s normal for their cat. In general though, cats can tell when something is toxic to them. If they’re eating small amounts of something toxic, it’s a potential sign of health issues.

Cats absolutely do not just inherently know when something is toxic to them. They just don’t, this is 100% false. It’s up to the owner to keep that sort of thing away from them

Believe it or not, but cats have instincts and learned experiences that help them avoid toxic things, similar to how we know when meat and dairy are spoiled. Every cat is different and these instincts can vary or be tricked, but they know to avoid several toxic plants.

Huh I should probably get my cat to the vet… He likes to eat small amounts of hair, leaves, dust and almost all human food (bread, uncooked pasta, sweets, etc. etc.). Of course only until we stop him. We thought he’s just bored and a bit stupid but it’s definitely not normal.

Edit: we bought cat litter that had grain in it… Yup he ate that out of his litter box a few times :) :)
