Hi guys, I heard some news about DC doing another reboot of the universe and restoring it to pre-crisis (like, pre-original crisis on infinite earths) status, so I decided to get back up to speed on the current goings-on, since I kind of dropped off after New 52.

I decided to pick it back up after researching what that whole Metal thing was about. I read Death Metal (which was NUTS and awesome), and now I’m moving on to New Frontier, I think. Hopefully I get caught up soon.

What are your impressions of DC lately?

Like you I dropped off at the new 52 but jumped back in for Rebirth. Think I got about 50 issues into Batman and just dropped off again. Just couldn’t warm to Kings version of batman and I just don’t have the energy any more to be following multiple stories across different books to try and keep up with what’s going on or invest time into a character that they’ll just reboot in a years time. I pretty much have given up on the big books and stick to either undies or limited edition runs.

Yeah, I hear you on that. I seem to tune-in for the reboots and then drop off when they’re not rebooting… which is probably why they have done so many reboots, because I know I’m not alone in that.

Grant Morrison’s 7 Soldiers and Infinite Crisis got me back into comics (I had dropped off since the mid 90’s - I was all about Reign of the Supermen and I was also into X-Men and Wolverine).

But then when New 52 hit, I wasn’t hooked on any one book and just dropped off again. I also started getting caught up on older stuff like the entire run of Wolverine from beginning up until they tried to retcon his origin story to just some dude in the 1800’s instead of him being 100’s of years old, which I always thought was cooler.

Anyway, I missed Flashpoint which everyone says is good. Haven’t read that yet. I did just read Bendis’ “Unity Saga” with Superman and I really liked it. It was cool to have some big development in regard to how Krypton really exploded, and the fact that Jor-El was still alive somehow was intriguing. But even just Bendis’ Superman’s personality was great, and I love Kal-El as a dad. It just feels so right to me. And I’m loving Jon Kent. He’s a great mix between Lois’s headstrong opinionated style and Superman’s considered, good-natured personality. Loving where DC is headed right now.

I’m not a batman fan but if you enjoy Nightwing, the run Tom Taylor is doing currently is great
