I’ve been working on tuning my OpenVR recording settings.

I shouldn’t have followed so close at the start :(

I absolutely love my Pimax but it’s a bear to get setup and working right in hardware and software. The back strap it comes with is not good and you need a Vive DAS to replace it and a 3d printer or access to one. The face foam is also too shallow and made of foam so replacing that is necessary too.

I don’t really use it for real VR much and I think it’s pretty heavy and weighted poorly for that, but for Sim Racing it’s incredible. Even with a 3090 and a modern i7 I have to adjust it’s rendering down from 4k on a lot of tracks to keep at 90fps, but 90fps is worth it and awesome.

I think the whole space will change a lot now that Apple made their headset though so I’d probably hold off getting one unless you find a cheap one on Craigslist or something.

Pimax makes some new stuff and new stuff is about to come out but I"m not that familiar with it. I think that stuff is likely a lot better but probably not dual 4k and would have similar issues with setup out of the box.

Thanks for the mini review! I’ve got a Quest Pro and an ultra wide monitor and TBH i prefer the ultra wide for fatigue and consistency. Nothing beats the VR immersion though.
