Two members of Moms for Liberty, a right-wing activist group, have reported several Florida school librarians to law enforcement. They claimed they had evidence that librarians were distributing “pornography” to minors and requested that law enforcement officers be dispatched. This represents a serious escalation of the tactics deployed by members of Moms for Liberty against school librarians.
Want to get rid of religion? Educate kids with critical thinking and get them excited about science – the whole process. Teach them to find their own answers scientifically. Religious zealotry can’t survive in minds so cultivated.
I can’t think of anything more degrading, demoralizing and dejecting than working in modern education. I appreciate where you’re coming from and used to agree with you whole heartedly.
I mean, you realize you’re commenting on a story about mothers calling the police on a school librarian and accusing them of distributing pornography to children, right? The very kind of person who would be educating those same children in the ways you suggest, attacked baselessly, life quite possibly ruined depending on how it’s handled.
