The NHL trade market continues to grow with less than a week before the 2023 NHL Draft. Enough has happened to warrant another Devils-specific look at it, focusing on who the Devils could trade, revisiting Connor Hellebuyck, and more.
I still just feel like trading for Hellebuyck would hurt us in the long run. I’d rather see what VV and Schmid can do over the next couple of seasons. I’d hate to see Yegor go but I get it, he’s been so hot and cold, mostly cold. And I’m fine seeing Blackwood go at this point. He’s too injury prone and even when he’s playing he’s just not that good.
We’re going to need one with Daws out for a large chunk of the beginning of the season, the idea would be to let Akira steep in the AHL a bit more and plug the spot on the Devils.
I wonder what the possibility of trading for him but not extending him right away? Finishing his contract with 1x$6
