Socialist-leaning policy brought about the golden age of the middle class in the mid 1900s. It hasn’t done much for you lately because it’s been on a steady decline since Reagan. Instead, all the money and power is controlled by a very small few who don’t like you very much.
What makes your think that this was brought about by socialist leaving policy’s? The west, especially the USA, was extremely anti socialist post WW2. But that was when the people really got their share.

Setting aside most “communism” people think of never was, imagining that a supposed alternative is worse doesn’t make your current option good. Maybe thinking about alternatives isn’t such a bad thing.
The point is that the meme acts as if the other option would not have done that. So pointing out that the alternative is just as bad is perfectly valid.
Like instead of taking heroin we switch to crack, that is not going to help with the drug related issue.
