Health officials announced Thursday that multiple people, mostly babies, have been sickened after coming in contact with dog food involved in a growing recall over potential salmonella contaminatio…
They got sick from touching it, but the headline sounds like they’re eating it
I’m really glad we can afford Taste of the Wild for our dogs. It’s more expensive, but it’s really high in quality and it’s a family-owned business, so you’re not supporting a soulless corporation that doesn’t actually care about dogs.
The more expensive food is an investment into your pet imo, if they have better food then they are less likely to develop conditions requiring vet visits and are just generally happier animals directly improving quality of life
I used to feed that to my GSDs but the high levels of protein in such food can potentially lead to health complications, especially if the dog is overweight/not extremely active. Here is some information on high protein dog foods. If a dog has kidney or liver issues, filtering out excessive amounts protein can put additional strain on those organs and exacerbate the issues.
Unless they changed their formula, Taste of The Wild falls into this category, and I was instructed to switch dog food. It may not have been related, but my older dog that had eaten it for years did end up going out really bad with kidney failure…
This was a few years back, so they may have changed their formula. But it’s worth looking into it yourself. I’d hate for anyone to go thru that. You have to be so careful with dog treats too… There are regularly products on the market with poisonous ingredients, especially on Amazon and from China…
Anyway, hopefully they’ve changed their formula but I just have to stress to double check. My poor guy didn’t deserve to go out that way.

Also, our dogs love it.

We’ve fed four dogs on it. Two are gone, two are still with us, with no problems to speak of. The two that are gone both lived until age 14.
Used that for my dogs for a while, but with the cardiomyopathy scare and the links to a grain-free diet, I stopped
Their food isn’t grain-free. At least not the kind we get.
Interesting. I wonder if that’s a newer line. I don’t remember seeing it when I was looking for foods years ago.
