No they don’t, but it’s much more socially acceptable to say that in “apology” rather than explain what they really think.

Yeah what they really fear is either children having any access to any of it at all or teens having access to hormones against parental consent. The latter is an issue of a deeper philosophical question: should medical autonomy be eased into over adolescence as one gains understanding and maturity culminating at the age of majority, should it be allowed to be denied in certain circumstances even after age of majority until a certain developmental milestone, or should it be subject to parental review and veto until age of majority.

That question comes with unpleasantness in many forms unless they control it by weaponizing disgust at trans people, anger towards abortion, and fear of children deciding different things than they would. To only focus on trans people and abortion isn’t to genuinely have that debate. It should also include things like blood and organ transplants, anesthesia, use of schedule II drugs such as opiates, psychiatry, chemotherapy, and vaccines.

Or they just hate that trans people exist at all. That’s also a stance this can mean

Based on what I’ve seen at protests this summer, I think this is the case for the most vocal opponents. Those who don’t care enough to come out and yell at trans people in public are probably like your former example.
