I just browsed through the top 100 posts or so here and you guys have amazong stuff that I’ve often didn’t ever seen in my life but nobody has a phone or a USB drive. I feel like this community is from 50 years ago. Or is there an actual reason?

  • @Chev I point out in my posts that a phone, pocket computer, camera, dopamine rectangle, surveillance device, whatever you want to call it, is (a less important) part of my EDC, and I use it to take the photo.

I do actually carry a thumb drive!
Sure, the cloud works, but to me it’s way less clunky to use a thumb drive than upload files over email and download stuff, creating digital clutter. It’s also USB-C+A so I can transfer large files from my pocket computer to backpack computer if needed.

    • @Chev To add to this:

Besides the stupid, terrible, no good very bad #BC Services Card app, I’m not reliant on my phone for anything. With the cloud and peer-to-peer solutions like Syncthing there’s absolutely no reason you should be tied to your phone.

If you lose your phone you shouldn’t be locked out of your bank account, lose your text messages, forget your social media logins, or lose your photos. /end rant

Anyways, phones are an important EDC TOOL for me. A camera/web browser basically
