This “mug” had a defect so being the DIY type I took my ceramic rotary bit and opened up the filled area, this unfortunately broke the mouthpiece and though it was a clean break, I used gorilla glue to put it back on, the clamps slipped loose and as the glue expanded the mouthpiece slid up. Now I was thinking if I can get some water in there and freeze it I could possibly pop it off but that seems unlikely and a hassle, so I thought I could possibly see if anyone who ceramics might have any input here
I don’t have any experience with it, but you could try looking for info about kintsugi to see if that would work for your situation.
I broke a decorative plate recently and looked into that. I also have no experience working clay, but from what I understand, it requires specialized tools and materials and can take months to, clean, set and dry, and finish. However, there are services that will take broken items and repair them with this technique!
Yeah, I had a nice plant pot break this year and briefly looked into it and decided it wasn’t for me, at least not for a $50 pot.
