Just curious is all, I know it’s possible, but didn’t know if there was a community or even website that does that. I’d like to know if you do, or know anywhere that does. Just seems more fun to be able to battle and or trade.

If you are looking for only the battling aspect, Pokemon Showdown is the way to do it. Basically all competitive play (Singles mainly, but VGC doubles exists there too) happens there. They have many tiers for older gens if that’s what you are wanting to play.
