I don’t think bot link posts are good for this platform. I think original content is useful, but links back to Reddit just makes this the shittiest possible Reddit client. Best case scenario it clogs the feed, worst case it actively pushes people back towards Reddit. If anyone disagrees, please let me know why.

Completely disagree. I use things like lemmit.online to have a picture back into communities that don’t exist or aren’t as vibrant on Lemmy.

We shouldn’t care if posts bring people to reddit or not. This is its own link aggregator… why are we being political about it? Saying what should or shouldn’t be posted or visible (in this context) is ridiculous. It makes us no better than a reddit admin saying they don’t like something arbitrary.

If you don’t like a bot posting reddit content block it on your user account.

If we block it at the instance level: I’m out. There are too many Lemmy political conversations going on honestly.

I wasn’t trying to suggest blocking the concept entirely. If someone sees something on Reddit they want to share, then they should absolutely post it. But having bots mass posting clutters the feeds with low quality content. At least on Reddit tons of people are voting these up and down, which isn’t happening here.
