Getting back into my normal routine after a trip to a tropical island paradise… haha, i miss island life already.

I’ve had bad luck, my pixel 5a kinda died, but works now for hours at a time before it dies again for days… replaced with a pixel 7a… which i dont have a case for yet… so I (accidently) yeet it into the tub when opening the door… I’m not having the best luck with phones, thankfully the 7a is still working after drying it out infront of a fan.

Have GrapheneOS on the 7a, and its working really nicely, I like the built in ability to disable apps until I need them (reduce active apps gathering metadata, and sending me notifications, i.e. agoda, and banking apps only need to run when I open them)

Broke a glass cup in my bathroom on the same day… had a laptop hard drive die… on the same day.

Either I’m just travel lagged and being clumsy, or… it’s time to buy reverse lottery tickets. Other then the small electronic comedies everything is good!

As far as backup phones go (my 7a WAS my backup before), i have a 3a (out of support, no security updates, but still has CalyxOS for now), and a Pixel 2 (Lineage OS only, no security updates). I think I need to get another backup device that is still getting security updates (so a pixel 6,7,8*) in case my clumsy ass destroys my current phone… or my bad electronic luck rolls snake-eyes again.

In singapore google doesn’t support pixel 5As so if i want google to take a wack at fixing it, I would need to mail it to the USA… so I could roll the dice on google’s good will (hahahahahaha), get a shop to reball the BGA of the 5a… or I could spend way to much money to buy reballing equipment I would probably only use once to do it myself at home and take up lots of precious deskspace forever, I looked for a local hackerspace that has the reballing equipment (balls, heat guns, and microscope basically)…Deciding on the next steps…
