One of my many admirers just went through literally every single post or comment I’ve ever made to downvote. Is there a way to see who it is and save them from having to see my posts in the future?

Also, is that how blocking works? I know that I won’t see posts from someone I’ve blocked but does it also stop them from seeing/interacting with my content?

I know, it’s an unhealthy habit.

I find I have much less Internet fights in the fediverse than I used to on commercial “social” media. Reddit and Facebook would bring out the worst of my pettiness 😅 I have had many lovely conversations on here.

Honestly, I think it’s due to the overall demographic here. I know there are younger folks, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the overall median age range on the fediverse was higher than Reddit. Although, I believe FB’s age demographic tends to skew older nowadays (younger generation has abandoned the platform while boomers and gen X have stuck with it), so maybe that theory doesn’t hold much weight.

That being said, I’ve also seen plenty of assholes here, but that’s to be expected with any online forum. Fortunately, they seem to be much less prominent compared to bigger platforms.

My brother is literally part of Facebook groups just for arguing politics. It’s like a drug addiction to him. It seems like such a weird use of energy and time. I like being on the fediverse because I feel like I have more genuine actual conversations. And not arguments.
