Hi everyone.

Making this post for meta discussion regarding [email protected] as a way for me to put forth my ideas and for everyone to submit and discuss their ideas as well.

I’ve been making the daily post for a few months now, but that’s focused on the NYT crossword. My reasoning was that I wanted to keep things familiar for those migrating from /r/crossword on Reddit, as there a bot makes a daily post for the NYT crossword.

Well, the migration seems have slowed down a bit. We’ve got a great community going here, and I want to make sure everyone that visits enjoys it here. Not everyone has an NYT Games subscription for the main crossword. There are plenty of other crosswords that are free and more approachable in terms of difficulty.

I was thinking of moving away from titling posts NYT [Day] [Date] Discussion and changing it to [Day] [Date] Crossword Discussion and include links to many of the popular crosswords online: NYT, LA Times, The Telegraph, etc. From there people can choose which daily crossword they’d like to do and discuss it there.

The daily NYT Mini discussion is definitely not going anywhere. I love seeing everyone drop by to share their score, and I will keep that going.

Feel free to provide your input regarding the direction you’d like to see [email protected] go.

r/crosswords used to be my go to. Anyone know if there’s an equivalent community on Lemmy for (mostly) cryptic crossword setters?

There’s [email protected] and [email protected] but both have basically no activity.

If you’d like, we can build a cryptic crossword group here in [email protected] and if it grows large enough, it can always branch out to its own Lemmy community.

I’m not the best with cryptics (or even regular crosswords heh), but I’ve dabbled a bit in them. There’s this series of Cryptics 101 crosswords by a Twitch streamer that I really enjoy. It’s a great starting point for those wanting to dip their toes into cryptics.
