He’s lost his damn mind. This is so challenging separating the art from the artist with him. Smdh

Unpopular take but most of the people separating the art are still contributing to his influence. Giving him streams and money will not benefit the world. I liked Kanye but not enough to assist a Nazi supporter, and honestly won’t even go through the minimal effort of pirating his stuff to guilt-free listen to a Nazi supporter.

I get why people want to separate the art, really. I don’t blame them, especially if his music is important to them or helped in bad times. I just personally hate helping awful people cling onto power and relevance for the sake of the art, and can’t help but feel this way.

Whenever someone suggests separating art from artist, ask why no one listens to Lost prophets anymore

People do still listen to Lostprophets though. I didn’t really give a fuck about Ian Watkins pre-nonce days, and I give even fewer fucks about him now - but some of the songs are absolutely banging.

It’s a big ol’ grey area.

“Separate the art from the artists” people don’t seem have an opinion on Charles Manson’s album for some reason

I’m not even saying I am anymore. His music used to be important to me and my friends and it’s sad that hearing songs I used to love just leaves a sour taste in my mouth now. Part of me wishes I could go back but it seems it’s too late at this point and he’s irreversibly gone off the deep end. It’s just sad. I can’t separate anymore.

Worst is hearing his line “I hate these n***as more than the Nazis”

          Just makes me sad

Hot take: I dont find separating the artist from the art at all challenging. Never once have I stopped enjoying art because of something the artist did / said. To me, who they are as a person has nothing to do with my opinion of their art.

Tbh, I think I have stopped enjoying Kanyes music because his personality has started overshadowing his music.

Not on any moral grounds or anything. But his new music doesn’t do it for me, and his old stuff rapping just doesn’t land the same anymore.

        Them beats though

Nah, it’s obviously a piece of art. The fact many pieces of art transcend the creators original intent or message proves that once art is created, it is art, not a morsel of anyone.
