It always defaults to accepting them and then immediately deleting them securely before they do anything. That way the page will think you’ve got them and stops asking but you still don’t get them.
I had no problem using the link, I don’t think it’s anything you did. I could zoom and scroll and never got asked to sign up for anything and there were no cookie notifications. Thank you for your link and the extra effort you go through before you posted it.

I’m using Consent-o-Matic to take care of cookies and always use reader mode for articles, so I didn’t notice…
In this case, the problem isn’t cookies, but the popover requiring you to enter your email address or register for an account to continue.
Besides using reader mode, one could also apply custom filters in uBO.
Consent-o-Matic took care of that for me as well. Can’t recommend it too much tbh!
