At some point in 2023, Crunchyroll decided that their users should not be allowed to stream their anime on through the website on mobile. This is a huge turn off for me, as I have developed a habit of keeping a Crunchyroll show on as a tab in the browser, which I would hop in an out as I do other things. I don’t know why they want to force me to use the app, nor do I care, as it is the service is unusable for me.

For those who also want to switch off Crunchyroll, I will say Hidive is a good platform to throw some money at in 2024. They have been carrying many high quality shows in the past year, and you can stream via the website anywhere. Although, their app is pretty bad, for those who care.

I left crunchy years ago, it was poorly sorted and frustrating to use. I’m guessing it still is?

Yeah, sort of. It is still frustrating to use, but the sorting is better now. For the most part, if you know what you want to watch as you open the app/website, it won’t be must trouble navigating to it. However, you will still need a third party website to know what are all the new shows that season, or what is the latest episode in your watchlist.
