They have more options than just Danny Ric though. Jake Dennis has tested for RBR before and is in good form atm, leading the FE championship. Cassidy is currently part of Red Bull and his current form is insane. They also have Lawson as a test driver. Yeah Danny makes the most sense, but if you give a new driver a chance, you can see how well they fair and can have them replace De Vries if they do well.
I like Danny Ric and all but does he really make the most sense here? Yeah, he’s on staff and has had some sim time but he isn’t current on the grid like some of the other options. Based on loads of rumors over the last year I would guess Yuki would be a more likely choice to get him in as a skill test before putting DR back in the car. Just a guess though.

Wouldn’t they put a driver from FE through the AlphaTauri first? It’s a jump from FE to top team F1.
FE cars were hitting 170mph in Portland last weekend. He’ll be fine. :-)
