What’s “wrong” about downloading it any particular way? Even if one did subscribe to the idea that “if it’s illegal, then it is by extension also wrong,” there’s nothing illegal about getting it via, say, Bittorrent or IPFS or whatever? It’s just a network protocol. And plenty of piracy can be done via HTTP as well. (In fact, one could download Steamboat Willie from the specific Archive.org link you posted yesterday when Steamboat Willie was still under copyright.)
So… Here’s a question. If I wanted to download a copy of Steamboat Willie, where could I get it? It seems wrong to look to the high seas.
