Personally I don’t care about downvotes. If you don’t be yourself on an anonymous platform, how can you be yourself in real life? Plus this makes all posts conform within the general trend rather than creating discussions and meaningful debates.

    I like downvotes. While I see your point about conformity, the other side of that is it allows for community moderation of low-value, offensive, or unwanted content. And without karma to farm, I don’t think it has much impact on people being themselves. Besides, there are plenty of other instances out there where they don’t allow downvotes if that’s more your speed.

      Beautiful thought but you know very well that’s not how people use the downvote button. There’s plenty of content that is not low-value, offensive or unwanted that gets downvoted.
