I’ve been playing for a few months now (managed to get amulet a few times but no successful ascension so far) and my daughter has been more and more intrigued at what I could spend my time on while on the phone.

I showed her some of the first levels, explaining what I was doing as I played, and she had stars in her eyes.

After a few days, I found an old android tablet which I deemed useless back then and managed to install SHPD thanks to the low hardware requirements.

Now, she’s playing almost daily, eager to discover more weapons, potions, quests. She’s not very good, so sometimes she claims that we have to share a game and I play through the first boss so that she has a head start at level 6 (she loves shopping :) ).

She showed me some trick that I overlooked and seemed obvious with her kids’ eyes (I used to fire at chest when I wanted to check for mimic without waiting for the suspicious animation instead of just examining it)

Thanks to the game being translated in French, she’s able to play without much assistance. L18n is sometimes overlooked with English being the lingua franca on internet, but for kids, it makes for a huge difference.

We’re both having a blast playing together and sharing stories that only us can understand in our house :) And she’s now listening to the DM-300 boss music in loop on her MPD. I’m looking forward to the day when she’ll beat me at this game!

So, many thanks to the devs and the community here for making all of this possible :)

Thanks so much for the kind words! It’s lovely to hear that you’ve both been enjoying Shattered so much. The game’s translation team definitely deserves some credit too. After setting up translation support in the game’s code I largely have left the work up to them.
