    Henri Manuel

The Maison Laffitte hippodrome, west of Paris, is flooded by the flood of the Seine. Jockeys and others find the typical french chairs under the trees, a safe haven. Paris, 1924.

Oh cool, thanks for the actual context!

(Sorry, I wish I was better at that. I’m more okay at jokes than finding historical context and feel a bit bad about that for this community.)

That’s cool - my sense of humor is a bit too wry for most people, so I appreciate those with a better reach!

        That’s interesting, apparently the photographer

Henri Manuel (24 April 1874 – 11 September 1947) was a French photographer who served as the official photographer of the French government from 1914 to 1944.

I didn’t even know countries had national photographers, let alone one who covered both world wars. Wild!

Also, thanks, I started looking through his photography and have a few ideas for more fakehistoryporn!

You’re welcome :) One of the things I really like about historyporn / fakehistoryporn photos is that, when I look into their background a bit, there’s often fascinating little bits of trivia that I learn!
