Resolution calling for end to the attacks on shipping vessels by Yemen’s Houthis was adopted despite abstentions from Russia and China

The UN security council has called for an immediate end to attacks by Yemen’s Houthi rebels on shipping in the Red Sea, adopting a resolution despite abstentions from Russia and China.

The resolution also called on the Houthis to release the Galaxy Leader, a Japanese-operated vehicle carrier linked to an Israeli businessman that the group commandeered on 19 November, along with its 25 crew.

US Central Command said there have been 26 Houthi strikes on shipping since then, causing shipping companies to bypass the route and instead divert around South Africa’s Cape of Good Hope, significantly adding to journey times and cost.

Validating attacking random merchant ships as an effective political tactic is not a good idea, actually. This will just lead to Iran attacking ships every time it wants something.

Israel should scale down operations in Gaza, yes. Houthi military positions that are launching these attacks should also be obliterated to make it very clear that is is not an acceptable tactic.

Validating attacking random unarmed civilians as an effective political tactic is not a good idea, actually. This already lead to Israel attacking civilians every time it wants some land.

Houthi rebels and Iran should scale down operations in Red Sea, yes. Israeli military entities that are launching these attacks should also be obliterated to make it very clear that it is not an acceptable tactic.

“We shouldn’t give in to the terrorists demands of stopping the genocide otherwise they might ask for other things as well” thats what I got from your post.

Well, thank you for at least openly admitting that you have the reading comprehension of a middle schooler so I can save my time elsewhere.
