In that part of the world they have the nasty habit of impounding your passport until they are satisfied with your job. Of course, you can’t go anywhere and they’ll work you until you satisfy or pay off somebody. Money is good, though.
If you don’t know this could happen you shouldn’t take the position. Can’t fault the Indians too much, though. They are just trying to feed their families. My advice would be for them to raise hell with their embassy. Easy for me to say since my US embassy pulls weight in these countries. Anyway, good luck to them.
