    I call it “netflix syndrome” and see it creaping into basically everything, its so annoying. pointless romances, callback settups that don’t pay off, saying the quiet part out loud/handholding the audience through the plot/losing the art of “show, don’t tell”, awful writing and casting, cringe-inducing diologue… I could go on all day, everyone’s had a friend recommend one of these shows only you to find it unwatchable in the first 15 minutes.

      You just described the vast majority of movies at TV for the four decades I have been watching. Maybe people are just noticing it more now.

        succession, the first few seasons of the expanse, first few seasons of billions, I’m also a bit of a hipocrite I’ll admit to enjoying money heist even though i’d consider it extremely “netflixy” at times. I’m not totally turned off by netflixy shows, they have their time and place when I want to turn my brain off and relax, but I’m usually more drawn to something a little more engaging.

              Season 4 of For All Mankind just had their season finale and it was fantastic
