Could RIF become LIF if it was retooled to show posts from Lemmy instead? Or are the websites so different that the only thing which could be repurposed is the UI?

It could perhaps be but the developer is focusing on an app for Tildes, which is another site conceptually similar to reddit and to this.

So it’s gonna be a while before one of the many reddit replacement sites gets a big enough following, if ever.

It could end being another Digg situation where the site rapidly died and Reddit took over, however Reddit became much more massive and integrated into society much deeper than Digg ever did. I don’t think it’ll be a quick death but a slower one, if it ever happens. I’m kinda 70/30 on the matter, but it would be fun to watch a new “reddit” take over. If it DOES happens though, it’s gonna be a slow.

Kinda strange that they link to lemmy in their good bye but are making a Tildes app. If I heard correctly Tildes is invite only.

If they’re all working on that App instead then it might mean that they recognize that Lemmy is not a viable option to handle the traffic and organization required to replace something on the scale the size of Reddit.
