    Also from the article:

[Gibson] appealed to the State Board of Elections, which determined Tuesday that according to state law, Gibson’s citizenship rights had been restored, given that his prison term ended over a decade ago.

In other words, contrary to Stephen Wiley’s blatant self-serving lies that you quoted, the real reason Democrats voted to keep Gibson on the ballot was that the law required it and they were following the law. That’s in stark contrast to the Republicans on the board, by the way, who voted to deprive him of his rights.

Also, we all damn well know that if the Democrats had voted the other way, the Republicans would’ve been screeching and crying crocodile tears about Democrat tyranny depriving an upstanding Republican of their lawful candidacy and leveraging it as an excuse to pretend what’s going on with Trump is part of a pattern and thus a conspiracy to suppress Republicans, or some bullshit like that.

Yeah, that’s totally why they did that and not because that’s been the liberal strategy since at least 2016. They do this all the fucking time, from small local elections to the fucking presidency, democrats have been boosting far right republicans because they think they have a better chance against them. THIS IS HOW TRUMP GOT ELECTED. This is very clearly another case of that, the nicest thing I can say here is you’d have to be naive as fuck to believe otherwise

Declining to unjustly remove somebody from the ballot is hardly “boosting” them!
