Samsung aren’t saying that they will charge for Galaxy AI feature but the fine print says the following:
“Galaxy AI features will be provided for free until the end of 2025 on supported Samsung Galaxy devices. Different terms may apply for AI features provided by third parties.”
I thought Gemini nano was supposed to run on device but the article is saying it’s cloud based?
“The translation features and some others work fully on-device, but some of the more impressive demos, like Generative Edit and transcription run through the cloud”
So what’s the point of the new chips ai’s features? Did they intentionally throttle the snapdragon so that the exynos version didn’t look as bad?
“The translation features and some others work fully on-device"
More likely that downloading tens of gigabytes of AI model data for everything isn’t feasible on phones.
