I think it is men not having a strong role model growing up due to the family structure decaying.

    I’m all for men being more therapy positive and mental health positive. I see a lot cheaper versions of this kind of group excursions in church men’s groups and Christian circles.

    Somehow it’s become normalized for men to not have close friendships with other men and feelings of isolation in the last 15 years, I think a lot of it is that men are so busy just having to support themselves, let alone their families, as incomes have lagged behind cost of living increases. No one has time to be involved in civic orgs, hobby groups, or their communities.

    There is a bit of the “toxic masculinity” that is become vogue to blame all of society’s problems on, but its overblown in my opinion. Men have been masculine since the Neanderthal days, its just the last 15 years that it became “gay” to have a close relationship with the lads, which has led to the isolation that men feel in 2024
