    You think so? Or is that just what it ought to be? In your experience.

    For example a road near me passes through a small 6 building town and the 2 lane road drops from 60, 55, 45, 35 for 1/2 mile and I gotta say I don’t know anyone who naturally slows down unless they see a cop

    There isn’t anything in the town that would give you pause to slow down. No schools, no buildings close to the road, nothing. I think it’s all a ticket scheme. If the cops were more proactive they’d be making a fortune.

      Again, lots of one off cases. And yes that very likely could be a ticket scheme but it’s pretty common to reduce speed limits through rural towns. I’ve seen it handled well, and I’ve seen it handled, let’s say in a predatory manner. But imagine a 90 year old woman pulling out of a church parking lot in to traffic blowing through town at 60 miles an hour, there’s a reason to divert from the recommendation there.
