      As far as the rules are here, yes theyre wrong. Gatekeeping is against the rules. BUT from a clinical and legal POV they are 100% correct. And unfortunately until the person they responded to does get a formal diagnosis, the accomodations and treatment necessary for coping with ADHD are witheld from them. It isnt equitable, it isnt fair, but thats the reality of the society we live in.

        It depends on the country one lives in and medical systems that one is enrolled in. For instance, my GP was able to prescribe me Ritalin instead of a SSRI without me having any official diagnosis when he thought that my depression symptoms were related to it.
