After saying goodbye to RIF and reddit, it’s time for me to move on. So far I’ve used 4 apps for Lemmy and this is my personal ranking:

  1. wefwef.app. Very clean design, works well and smooth experience. Overall the best implementation so far.

  2. Connect/Liftoff (tied). Both are solid, I prefer Connect’s sidebar and options but I prefer the design of the posts and comments on Liftoff. When the comments stack in Connect it looks awful IMO.

  3. Jerboa. As a first option it was good but after so many timeouts, other design issues and multiple errors I kinda gave up on the app. After its polished I’ll give it another try.

Just because you magically haven’t had any issues doesn’t mean that the app is behaving that way for the majority of users.

Just because someone is yelling on the internet about having an issue doesn’t mean that the app is behaving that way for the majority of users.

also, bugs are normal part of the development (esp. so hasty development as the lemmy is undergoing right now) and the most used app will have most reported problems. that is not a cons, that is a pros.

if you are bugged by reported bugs, you might like some closed source software, these all work nicely and have no bugs at all :D

so yeah, really bizarre comment you made there.

Are you having a bad day or something? Nowhere do I see anyone trying to actively attack and take down the app and its creators. I promise, it’s not that deep. Moving to alternatives when something is temporarily too buggy to use is not that weird and shouldn’t be seen as offensive. Hope your day gets better.

no, are you? or is there another reason that prevents you seeing that your experience is not universal and forces you to kick around when someone suggests otherwise?

I appreciate Jerboa being open source but even before the issue with reddit.world I had constant crashes while reading and it didn’t make a pleasant experience. My intention was never to talk on behalf of Jerboa users but to give my personal opinion. In fact, Jerboa gave me a pretty good first impression but after trying other options I do prefer the alternatives.
