Although I haven’t flown since the Real ID mandates, I’ve shown up to an airport without my ID and was able to board. There was some additional screening. Like if you’ve ever tried to do a hard credit pull online and they ask you questions like “which of the following vehicles did you own three years ago” style questions.
Opportunity to say that I also had this happen but it happened to my sibling who got their wallet stolen on vacation. They were a lot younger at the time so it was one heck of a thing to get on the plane. 30+ minutes each time just for TSA.
Then they’d take them separately to ask questions. Only problem is, they had no idea what the answers were to 90% of them.

You didn’t have nifty fake sovcit passport though.

Have the real ID mandates taken effect yet? I feel like the feds keep pushing the deadline back.
Guess not. Looks like it’s now scheduled to May 2025
