The easiest way to onboard toxic ideas in progressive spaces is to plop the word “white” in front of a thought. “I really hate these white gays” or “white trans women are entitled” etc.

And as always… If TERFs taught us anything, ironic bigotry is a couple steps away from unironic bigotry.

It’s one of the problems I have with “the dirtbag left”. They are aping the same combative and divisional tactics that conservatives utilized to get trump elected, without realizing that the inherent power of leftism lays in its cooperative nature.

Fascism thrives on divide and conquer, we don’t have that luxury. We have to band together, offer mutual aid, and protect those that can’t protect themselves. Theory is meaningless if it’s used as a gatekeeper, and seemingly it’s all they care about.

The jokes that are/were deployed aren’t even jokes. From purple on the far right saying the N word, to people saying “kill all men”, there’s no joke, no punchline. To disarm a reactionary who uses a “joke” like that, you can ask them what the point was. To disarm somebody who thinks they’re left of center, I’m not sure.

Yeah, it’s been a bit of a gut shot since using Lemmy. I haven’t messed with social media for a while, basically left reddit when it became an intolerable hotbed for reactionaries a few years back.

But at least the tactics they employed made sense for fascist. It was copesetic for the divisional environment where fascist thrive. I just don’t know what it brings to the table for leftist?

I just don’t know what the point of dissuading open communication about leftism is. That’s been half the battle for leftist throughout history, and now that there’s public discourse were shunning people for being liberal? Where do they think revolutionaries come from? Revolutionaries aren’t born, they’re forged from the liberals who realize they’ve been lied to.
