      As you said, what’s stopping you from customizing the taskbar? There’s a few good applets to replace the start menu with something different as well

        Why? Taskbars" (really “panels” - “taskbars” are something else) in Plasma can be moved, removed, doubled up, made longer, shorter, wider, thinner… You can configure them any which way you want, or not at all and do away with them altogether.

          The user said that despite the customizability of Plasma, they are looking for something unique, hence why I recommended GNOME for that expectation.

          It’s important to remember that although Plasma can be customized to any whim, not every user has the patience to do so.

      @mmababes @kde I like the productivity benefits of seeing at a glance what is running, and switch tasks with one click.

      It’s easy to change the look of the Start button. Just right click on it.

      I think looks are much less important than productivity and choice.

      Some desktop systems focus on a glossy look, yet are unproductive.
