    It’s certainly not Israel.

Lebanon existed long before Israel was Theodor Herzl’s wet dream.

Before the current state of Israel, certainly.
And the whole area was Greater Syria for a while too.

Not sure how this is relevant though.

You wrote that Hizballah attacked in response to Israel occupying south Lebanon, which it isn’t.
Either way Nasrallah already said the attacks were in support of Hamas.

Shebaa farms were tended by Lebanese citizens. Before the illegal occupation by Israel, they paid taxes to the Lebanese government. Any dispute between Syria and Lebanon is because of foreign colonialists meddling in affairs that should have never been theirs.

The shebaa farms have been an issue between Israel and Hezbollah ever since Israel failed to withdraw from the territory in 2000 in typical colonial settler state fashion.

The recent escalation is due to Israel’s heavy handed response to Hamas, but this is not a new issue.

That’s not what you initially wrote.

Which in turn was in response to…going back to the illegal occupation of South Lebanon by Israel.

Which is what I clarified in the first place.

And Hizballah attacked a day after Hamas did. On the 8th of October. That’s before Israel’s response.

Syria, the UN and the USA all agree that Shebaa farms were Syrian territory in 1967.
Israel was not required to withdraw from the area according to the UN Security Council resolutions.
