The sharks are a common trope of these sorts of evil genius characters, pretty sure they were used in an old Bond film at one point. The clown, the author mentions they don’t like clowns – so seeing one ripped apart is potentially a little cathartic. Having the gender reveal happen with the clown blood also sort of makes more sense than it just being regular human blood, in a way, as clowns are known for being full of surprises.
